    Travel? This is driving in a car. The desert is wonderful, and will teach us many things. But you have to get out of the car, to be taught. Google maps can do this.

    I guess everyone has an experience. Mine is, I grew up in the Imperial Valley, on Northend, but lived in El Centro for 35 years with my family. We love the Valley, and slow pace, as you can see you can drive anywhere without traffic congestion, this short video doesn't do it justice. Great to raise a family, and great businesses and People that are friendly, which you can't find everywhere. Someone needs to do a full video or highlights of places around El Centro and the Valley. It was a Barren Desert at one time, so, see the growth, and what Pioneers have made of it.

    My father joined his brothers to open their business'. That was 1947. My fathers restaurant and gas station was what you saw first on your way to Las Vegas via Route 66. Barstow was where people headed for jobs. You had the railroad, the Marine Supply Depot and Fort Irwin. A lot of people saw the writing on the wall when they built the freeway that completely by passed the town. We left un 1962. One uncle moved his family to northern California. My uncle Dee and his family stayed. When he died i went back to Barstow for his funeral. I didn't recognize anything. Everything was run down or torn down. Everyone my brother and I knew had moved away by the time they were old enough. I think we all thought there was no future. Its too bad orhers felt thats the only place they belonged.

    Well, I moved here 9 years after living 15 years in the Bronx & Queens. So for me its much better then were I used to live. No alternate parking in my block. I love the climate. But yeah, not much going on here. But I am over 50 and my wild days are long gone, so that is just fine with me. I am also extremely lucky , so far, with the rent I am paying for my house. Most pay almost double of what I pay. I am also blessed with a job that pays for my mileage and commuting times since I work as a Field Service tech. It makes commuting much more bearable if you get paid for it. But yes, its a LONG grinding commute. It can take up easily 3-4 hours a day depending on where you have to go. People that move here for the slightly cheaper housing often don't calculate the cost of daily commute. And with those Commie-fornia gas prices it is substantial. I live well here, I have a good income and live by myself with my dogs. . BUT, I do not know how folks with lower income and family make it. This is an area where having a car is a MUST, unlike NYC were its more of a burden . I noticed that People here are quite uninformed overall and many have never travelled far.

    Mojave makes a great argument against "renewable" energy. It's at the foot of the nations largest wind farm and there are solar farms all over the place and energy is 38% more than the national average.

  • @jimbeam-ru1my

    one thing about mojave is that if you drive out into the desert to the west of town you'll find some of the most scenic desert in the region. It's slowly vanishing as mining companies level all the hills though

  • @jimbeam-ru1my
    @jimbeam-ru1my 16 дней назад

    "Hot summers with cool winters" You mean freezing cold winters, especially if live on Bacchus road and you get that 90 mile an hour -5 degree wind blowing down from the tehachapi's. The decline of mojave is region wide. it happened all over the antelope valley. It went from nice white communities with plentiful jobs, high trust and low crime to a "diverse" shithole with high poverty, high crime, and bad schools that's a dumping ground for paroled felons and sex offenders in LA county. And over the county line in Mojave it became a haven for meth labs

    Do you know how to use a map? As other have noted, this video is 95% not El Cajon--just Granite Hills, the suburban hills outside of it, which are completely unremarkable and uninteresting, looking exactly like just about every other similar area throughout Southern California. Completely boring and pointless to record. What a useless video. If you want to make a video worth watching at least get out of your car and investigate something and talk to people or find out something that's interesting. Not just put a GoPro on your car and drive around. How lazy.
